It's Not Too Late to Re-Insulate

Homeowners could keep their dwellings cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, lower their monthly utility bills, and block out unwanted noise by re-insulating walls and ceilings. Older homes generally require more insulation than newer ones because the material loses its effectiveness over time due to settling, as well as from the effects of homeowners inadvertently shifting insulation when walking around in the attic. Also, the amount of insulation originally installed in older homes is ineffective by today's standards.
Even so, some recently built homes, too, could use more insulation. This is especially true if builders did not properly insulate all spaces that need it or if the material becomes compressed when wiring is installed into the walls during the construction phase.

To achieve the best results, homeowners need to make sure there are no gaps or cracks in the insulation that will allow air to pass through
