Tip: How to Reduce Stress on Your Pets During Your Move.

You think you get stressed during the process of moving. What about your pets? Maybe the turtle and gerbil will take it lying down, but how about your dog or your cat? Their favorite chair suddenly isn’t where it’s always been. They can’t find their water bowls. Their people are acting strange – hurried and preoccupied. What’s happened to the morning walk? Where’s the comfortable after-dinner nap? What’s going on?

You can’t explain to animals what moving is all about, but with some basic planning, you can make their move relatively painless:

  • Leave your pet's favorite chair, water bowl, etc., in place as long as possible and keep to their normal routine as much as possible.
  • Be sure to get your pet's medical records from the vet.
  • During your moving day, your pet may fare better off the scene in quiet spot. Take time out during the moving activity to check on them and provide a little assurance.
  • Make sure you have a leash, travel carrier, and new License and ID tags for your pet in case they go astray enroute or at your new home.
  • If you’re doing the driving to your new home, let your pet travel in a roomy carrier if possible and make sure they have lots of fresh air. Bring food, water, treats and car sick pills. For larger pets, make frequent stops for exercise.
  • When you move into your new home, keep your pet in a quiet place, or yard were they can keep an eye on you while they adjust to their new surroundings.

You'll find that pets usually adjust quickly to their new surroundings. Providing them a little stress relief will make their transition and yours allot more manageable.

We can get your move started on the right foot. Call or e-mail us today for information that can help reduce your stress, too!
