Tip: Protect Your Home Against "House Odour".

You may be accustom to it and certainly, your friends won't feel comfortable telling you about it, but it’s just possible your house may need a deodorant. Especially if:

  • You own a dog, cat or other fur bearing pet.
  • You cook strong scented food or use strong scented seasonings like: fish, garlic, or curry.
  • You have any smokers in the family.
  • You have a damp basement or crawl space.
  • You are not regularly circulating new fresh air into your home from outdoors.
Here’s what you can do about it:
  • Run the oven overhead ventilation fan when cooking scenty or spicy foods
  • Cover up lingering cooking smells with a good spray deodorizer.
  • Place an open box of baking soda in the refrigerator.
  • Some smells can be impregnated right into counters, flooring, and tile grout. Clean throughout with a disinfectant cleaner.
  • Change the cat’s litter box regularly and clean it out daily; spray the box with a commercial deodorizer after each cleaning. Consider using a kitty litter with an impregnated deodorizer.
  • Professionally clean smelly carpets and draperies with a deodorizing cleaner and/or spray carpets regularly with a carpet deodorizer.
  • Use scented candles, incense or discreetly disguised air fresheners around your home. It's best to stay with a common scent throughout.
  • Air out all the rooms frequently. Fresh air and cleanliness are your best defense against odours.
  • Painting a room can also cover up deep rooted odours in walls and ceilings.
