A really productive garage sale takes a bit more than putting up a sign in the yard and an ad in the paper. Plan ahead and get your neighbours involved too. Here are few great tips that will help you get the most out of your efforts: Go through your whole house. Sorting out the items you no longer need or you've grown out of.. Be ruthless, chances are if you haven't used it in a year or so, you probably won't in the future. Place an ad in your local paper ahead of time. The best issue is the last one before your sale. Stick notices up on store bulletin boards and street posts (where permitted). Ask friends to come and help out on your sale day. Price your items sensibly after all, your objective is to sell them. Polish, clean, and repair everything for sale. Clearly mark the price for each item on a piece of masking tape or a tag. Place your items on tables spaced for easy passage around all your items. Place you best items up front and clearly visible to buyers. Hang clothes on hangers and consider making a dressing room area available for trying things on. The day of, set up a refreshment stand. Clear the curbside and driveway if possible for parking. Have cash on hand to make change. If you must, accept cheques only from local banks and get two pieces of ID.
