Rules of Play

1. Players must be 21 years of age or older.

2. Players must sign waivers to be eligible to play.

3. Ladies are asked not to play during pregnancy.

4. No intoxicated players allowed.

5. Players must wear proper gym attire.

6. Minimum 2 ladies per team if numbers allow.

7. To promote equality and variety of teams, changes may be requested by a member of the committee.

8. Switch opponents after approximately forty minutes.

9. Boundaries are designated.

10. Ball on line is consider in bounds.

11. Ball touching net is in-play. Including serves.

12. Players may serve five consecutive times, then rotate.

13. No blocking on serves allowed.

14. Exercise caution when spiking.

15. Players who block may contact ball again without first, another player touching the ball.

16. Point or loss of serve when:

    • Ball fails to travel between the vertical boundaries.

    • Ball is contacted by serving team before serve travels over the net.

    • Ball lands outside of boundaries.

    • Ball touches floor, before playing it.

    • Ball is touched more than three times in a row by same team (does not include block)

    • Ball touches player below the waist.

    • Player may not contact a ball on consecutive hits except off a block.

    • Ball contacts fixed objects (gym equipment, ceiling, walls, etc.)

    • Follow all other OVA Rules Except For kicking the ball, due to safety concerns this is not allowed.

17. Re-serve may occur when:

    • There is a conflict (boundary, rules, etc.)

    • Ball contacts basketball netting only (no metal frame)

18. PLEASE REMEMBER:

    This is co-ed volleyball and is intended to be fun and sociable. Refrain from obvious rule violations and use of profanity.

AN ALL OUT EFFORT will be made to provide notification of cancellations, however cancellations may occur without prior notice.

Registration Fees 2007 - 2008 Season

In preparation for the 2006 - 2007 season we have been given formal notice that our new dates and times have changed to:

Mondays 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Tuesdays 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The cost, $100.00 per person for the season. Application has been made to commence our season the week of Monday September 18 and Tuesday September 19. This is NOT yet official however we will email members the first week of September for the official start dates.

Make cheques payable to: Melanie Porter, Rose Iantorno or Howie Mendoza. Registration will be based on a "first come first serve" basis after that names will be placed on a waiting list.
